IAOM – Ethiopia (October 24-27)
Ethiopia is the second most populated country in Sub-Saharan Africa, and is the fastest growing economy in the world!
Boasting an average GDP of 9.6% in the last 10 years, Ethiopia has a population of 100.4 milion, and more than 200 mills with grown food crops: wheat, teff, maize, beans, peas, lentils, soybeans, chickpeas, etc. Even though the country produces food crops, food scarcity remains an issue due to the country’s increasing demand. Therefore, great opportunities exist for export, commercial production and processing of these food crops.
Ethiopia also needs new high technologies for food processing industry, machinery/equipment and production design, in addition to state-of-the-art packaging systems to improve the country’s ventures in processed foods.
