It’s been an exciting time to be in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, to participate in the 23rd Annual IAOM Mideast & Africa District Conference and Expo on behalf of Silos Córdoba.

Abu Dhabi is one of the largest and most advanced cities in the region and therefore, it is turning itself into a strategic hub for worldwide commercial and financial activities linking the West and the Far East. Abu Dhabi has become more than just a stop-over point, instead it has become the key destination in the region.

The 23rd Annual IAOM Mideast & Africa District Conference and Expo promotes constructive dialogue among participants, exhibitors, and influential people and it constitutes a link to the latest research and technological developments from the milling industry.

During the trade show days we had the opportunity to strengthen our business ties, enlarge our network — not only within the region, but throughout the world — and establish new business relations.

In total we were 621 delegates from 51 countries participating in this event, exceeding the participation of previous years. A great organization, great-line of speakers and a diverse conference program made the event a success.

All presentations from the IAOM UAE 2012 are now available for download on the website www.iaom-mea.com under ‘Previous Conferences’.

There are many different types of presentations, ranging from The Search of New Business Models to Social Networking in the Milling Industry, a presentation I recommend to take a look at to know how communication is evolving. Because we cannot turn our backs on this kind of things, although we work in industrial sectors such as silo manufacturing for grain storage or handling equipment, apparently so far from these “communication trends”.
